Golden Globes: In his acceptance speech, actor Peter Dinklage, who won Best Supporting Actor for Game of Thrones, referenced a man named Martin Henderson, asking the audience and viewers at home to Google him.

Henderson made headlines this week for being the victim of an assault that has left him partially paralyzed.

The 37-year-old dwarf actor, who is best remember for his role as a Goblin in two of the Harry Potter films, was standing outside the White Horse pub in Wincanton, Somerset, when he was suddenly picked up by an unknown assailant and thrown across the pavement.

Henderson believes the man who attacked him may have been inspired by English rugby player Mike Tindall, who is said to have been a spectator at a “dwarf tossing contest” in a New Zealand bar last year.

“It all happened so quickly – I think he was with a group of mates and they thought it would be a laugh,” Henderson said. “I guess I was an easy target and the only reason I was picked on was because I am small.”

He suffered multiple injuries, and has been told by doctors he may be permanently bound to a wheelchair.

The attacker, meanwhile, remains on the loose. He is described by police as 5’8” with a slim build and dark. He was last seen wearing a hooded top and baseball cap.

In addition to justice, Henderson hopes to receive an apology from Tindall and the rest of Team England. “The whole [England] team should be made to apologise for what they have done,” he said. “I think until someone steps out and says ‘this is not acceptable’, all dwarfs are under threat.”

Human Popsicle (Part 2)

If you follow me on Twitter you may have heard about my no good, terrible, terrible commute this morning. It all started like any other day: I ate my breakfast, caught up on the DVR and packed my lunch for the day ahead. I layered up for the 10-minute walk to the T in knee-high socks, sneakers, my jacket, a scarf, hat and wool mittens. Pretty standard for a quick walk to the T and some standing on a platform.

I had seen on Twitter that there was a delay too late to leave any earlier, so off I went. Turns out there were multiple 20-minute delays? Or something? I waited for an hour before I decided to go home and wait it out. While I waited, three trains went by: one empty train not taking passengers, and two that were so full no one could fit on them. And I usually have no trouble filling up tight spaces (that’s what she said).

In that situation, what do you do? How long do you wait in the freezing cold? How long before your health is in jeopardy? I waited an hour, and was literally the coldest I have ever been. I thought I was adequately bundled up, but my feet and legs were incredibly sluggish on the walk home after that wait, and I still feel like I can’t quite get warm almost 12 hours later. My fingers are still stiff as I type this.

All joking aside, this was seriously detrimental to my well-being. I always scoff as those people who sue others for mental distress or whatever, but I was seriously afraid to go back outside after work today. And if this happens again tomorrow, I honestly think I will burst into icicle-tears as the packed trains go by. And possibly never take the T again (in the winter, at least).

Mad props to my awesome BF who first warmed me up, and then drove me to work this morning after this terrible experience. See, the cold is even making me say things like “mad props.”

Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead of the Day: Two Denver men were arrested and charged with abusing a corpse, criminal impersonation, and identity theft after taking their deceased friend out for a night on the town, Weekend At Bernie’s-style.

According to court records, Robert Young and Mark Rubinson rode around in a car with Jeffrey Jarrett’s body, stopping at a couple of restaurants before returning him to his house. Their 80s-themed night didn’t end there: The duo are alleged to have “borrowed” their buddy’s ATM card, withdrawing $400 at a strip club.

Jarrett’s cause of death has yet to be determined, but Young and Rubinson were not considered suspects. A relative told CBS Denver that Young was living with Jarrett, and returned home on August 27 to find him dead.

“I’m horrified, I’m absolutely, I can’t even put in to words, I can’t imagine anybody thinking that maybe their friend is in trouble and not calling 911,” said the relative.

Both Young and Rubinson are currently out on bond.

If you’ve been looking for the chance to channel your inner Masshole, Badaddy Productions is looking for you.

This looks awesome, really. And entirely legitimate.

At this time, mystery surrounds the show: There is no official word yet on when filming will begin, MTV hasn’t made any sort of statement about the show, and a Google search for Badaddy Productions returns no company website or Wikipedia page. The one hint I could find, a Badaddy Facebook page, has very few “likes” and no posts.

While certainly there is some allure to the idea of a show that is going to try to make going out in Faneuil Hall look like fun, one look at the application would make any true Bostonian’s stomach turn. It starts out innocently enough — “Southie, Charlestown, Dorcestor…. It’s some of the only real neighborhoods left in Boston, and it’s all you. [sic]” — but quickly takes a turn for the worst: “You down whiskey, try to run out the yuppies, handle your own business and don’t take [anything] from no one. You know your B’s and C’s, live for the Pats and Sox, and not for nothin’, but your BAC is your badge of honor.”

What is BAC? Blood Alcohol Content? Boston Architectural College?

I have been struggling with the Hollywood portion of our upcoming trip. Given the rapidity of our vacation, we only have one full day there. Just one! For someone obsessed with the goings-on of celebrities this is just not enough. How do we squeeze it all in?

Should we book a tour? Which tour? That crime scene tour doesn’t happen on Mondays?!? Do we want to see celebrities’ homes (or just bushes, like most of the reviews say)? Do we want to conduct our own tour and just drive to places we want to see? Should we go somewhere besides Hollywood? Can we make it to Dexter & Rita’s house in Long Beach? Torrance to see Sunndydale/West Beverly High? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

And this portion of the trip is all on me. Me, the girl who can never commit to a decision. Zut alors!

Originally, we were going to go to Universal Studios and then head to Hollywood to explore and maybe take a tour.

Then we were going to buy a joint pass to Universal and a Hollywood tour.

And then we were going to tour Paramount Studios, and then use our rental car to see whatever sites we wanted before heading to Hollywood Boulevard.

And then I decided we should just find places we want to go and go there.

Today I finally made an executive decision and booked a tour of Hollywood, including movie stars’ homes. Even if it is just their bushes, or maybe they have since moved to Calabasas, or they’re some D-lister who I’ve never heard of, I feel like this is something we have discussed since we booked the vacation. So we’re doing it.

Prior to that we are going to go to some other places we want to see (such as the La Brea Tar Pits, Rodeo Drive and The Grove), and after (and this is not actually booked yet so cross your fingers) we are going to see an improv show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (with Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer!). This leaves plenty of time in between planned things to squeeze in the unplanned things like following paparazzi to see a celebrity, or maybe venturing to Santa Monica.

BOOM.

I would be so afraid to carry anything fragile in those heels.

Two weeks from right now I will be feverishly packing for my vacation, and boy am I excited. Also slightly anxious about all of the traveling we are going to be doing in the span of one week.

Here is an overview:

Leave Boston, MA – Friday
Arrive in Denver, CO – Friday
Depart CO/Arrive in CA – Sunday
Depart Burbank, CA for Cabazon, CA – Tuesday
Depart Cabazon, CA for San Diego, CA – Tuesday
Depart San Diego, CA for Boston, MA (with a layover in Houston, TX) – Friday

That leaves us with one full day in Denver, one full day in LA/Burbank, two full days in San Diego, and a whole lot of traveling. BUT I CAN’T WAIT!

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who turns 30 today, has been the most conspicuously absent member of the cast, shying from on-screen appearances for the past six years.

Wow. So, generally I find the PTC to be a little ridiculous. And I will admit to having watched this show on purpose once before (the kids are just so darned cute – most of the time – and I was really curious about the premise). But, seriously?

“Well, at this pageant there was an option to do celebrity-wear,” Dickey says. “And we thought about what we could wear with her being a brunette and Julia Roberts is my favorite actress of all time. I thought it was real cute to do Julia. She’s 3, if she was 10 I never would have considered this. But as young as she is I thought it was very comical.”
