As I’m sure you are well aware, Osama bin Laden was killed.
This is great news, and something that many (if not all) Americans have been waiting roughly nine years and 232 days for. I’m not going to waste your time reflecting on it. I’ll leave that for you to do yourself.
What I want to talk about is how no one is talking about it. Yes, it is all over the news and social media outlets. But I assumed it would be something I would discuss at length with my coworkers, friends and family in the detail with which we recapped the royal wedding. But we’re not.
I have discussed it a total of three times today, but not one of these conversations were directly referencing it.
Am I alone? Is this a topic we are not ready to discuss at length? Is it because we’re celebrating a death? Is it too taboo? Or just too soon?
